Easy Chocolate Panna Cotta

Panna cotta is an Italian dessert that is made of sweetened cream and milk mixture. It is thickened with gelatin and molded. The cream may be flavored with various flavorings like coffee, tea, lime or even lavender.

It is one of the easiest desserts that you can make and have it ready for any event. It needs very few ingredients and can be quickly put together. The only thing is it needs time to set in the fridge. So it is always a good idea to have this dessert prepared a day before you need it. 

Here is my recipe of chocolate panna cotta with a hint of coffee. It will be soft, creamy and have the perfect wobble  – a symbol of the perfect panna cotta!

Prep Time: 30 minutes | Setting Time: 6 hours

Ingredients:

  1. 125g milk chocolate (small pieces)
  2. 200ml cream
  3. 150ml milk
  4. 1tsp instant coffee powder (or more if you love coffee)
  5. 2 tbsp sugar
  6. 2 platinum gelatin leaves

Steps:

  1. Soak the gelatin sheets in cold water.
  2. Mix cream and milk in a pan.
  3. Heat the mixture and add the coffee powder. Do not let it boil. Heat it till you see small bubbles around the pan.
  4. Add the gelatin sheets and stir well.
  5. Pour the mixture over chocolate and mix well so that no chocolate lumps remain.
  6. Sieve and pour the panna cotta mixture into the serving glasses.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for 6 hours.
  8. Once set, eat it directly from the glass or
  9. Keep the glass in warm water for a few minutes and carefully move a butter knife around the inside of the glass to loosen the panna cotta. Invert it on the serving plate.
  10. It will have the most satisfying wobble!

I have paired this beautiful panna cotta with Butterscotch Ice cream and macadamia nut praline. The chocolaty creaminess is perfectly balanced with the sweetness of butterscotch.
