A life is worthwhile when it is made up of moments that light up your eyes! Such moments sometimes can define your future and completely change the course of your life. One such moment is dinner at Taj Campton Place, in San Francisco.
It was my birthday in 2017 and my husband decided to surprise me by taking me to Taj. How did he decide on Taj ? Well, I am a big fan of MasterChef and in one of the episodes of MasterChef India, executive chef of Taj, Srijith Gopinathan was a guest judge. He had brought his signature dish ‘Spice Pot‘. After watching that episode, we decided to try out the restaurant. And what better day than my birthday!
It was one of the most amazing experiences to dine at Taj Campton Place. It completely changed my perspective towards food. The dance of flavors in your mouth cannot be described in words. It has to be experienced with all of the 5 senses!
For those who are still wondering what do I mean, I have here, the whole experience captured in photos. Below is the the 8-course meal we had. To maximize our experience we had decided to have one vegetarian and one spice route menu. This way we were able to taste all of the dishes.
Lets talk about experience. Its a Michelin star restaurant, so we had dressed appropriately and had taken reservation a week ahead. Once we reached, we were given a warm welcome and were seated to our table quickly. They explained the menu and we decided to go with both the menus. We were given few complimentary dishes to start with along with a welcome refreshing yogurt drink (unfortunately I forgot to take the photo). Then the actual courses started. Even though the portion sized looked small (considering its Indian food), we were amazed of how full we felt after completing the entire course which took almost 2.5 hours.
Some of the stand out dishes were the ‘Nan Bun with Lentil Mousse’, the ‘Spice Pot’, ‘Slow cooked Lamb’ and ‘Chocolate with Masala Chai Mousse’. Each dish was presented beautifully (as can be seen above) and had layers of hidden flavors that complimented each other perfectly. It totally changed my perspective towards food especially Indian.
This experience triggered the passion in food I always had but had never pursued before. Thats why when I started this website, I had to write about this experience as my very first blog!
Hope you enjoyed reading it and are inspired to try out Taj Campton Place in San Francisco.
